About This Scholarship

Australia Awards Scholarships provide opportunities for people from developing countries in the Indo-Pacific region (and select African countries) to undertake full-time undergraduate or postgraduate study at participating Australian universities and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions.

The 2026 program aims to develop skills and human resources in eligible countries and build enduring people-to-people links with Australia.

Full scholarship benefits include:
- Full tuition fees
- Return economy airfare
- Establishment allowance on arrival
- Contribution to living expenses (COLA — around AUD $25,000/year)
- Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the scholarship period
- Pre-course English language training (if required)
- Academic support program
- Introductory Academic Program (IAP)

Eligibility Requirements

- Citizen of an Australia Awards eligible country (primarily Indo-Pacific and select African nations)
- Must be outside Australia when applying
- Meet minimum age requirements (usually 18+)
- Satisfy academic requirements of chosen Australian institution
- Demonstrate leadership qualities and a commitment to contributing to development
- Minimum English proficiency (IELTS 6.5 or equivalent for most awards)
- Not be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia or New Zealand
- Not currently have a scholarship funded by the Australian government
