Commonwealth Scholarship

Commonwealth Scholarships enable talented and motivated individuals to gain the knowledge and skills required for sustainable development, and are offered to citizens of Commonwealth countries. The scholarships are funded by the UK government through the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.

For 2026, scholarships are available for Master's and PhD study at UK universities for students from low- and middle-income Commonwealth countries.

Benefits include:
- Full tuition fees
- Airfare to and from the UK
- Monthly stipend for living expenses
- Thesis grant (PhD only)
- Study travel grant
- Warm clothing allowance (if applicable)
- Refund of UK student visa fee

- Citizen and permanent resident of an eligible Commonwealth country
- Permanently resident in your home country
- Hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) honors standard (for Master's) or a Master's degree (for PhD)
- Unable to afford the costs of study in the UK without this scholarship
- Prepared to return to your home country on completion of studies
- Not be a past or current Commonwealth Scholar or Commonwealth Fellow
