The Rotary Peace Fellowship is one of the most competitive and prestigious scholarships for peace and development professionals worldwide. Each year, Rotary selects up to 130 dedicated individuals to study at one of Rotary's seven Peace Centers located at premier universities around the world.
Peace Centers are hosted at:
- Duke University / University of North Carolina (USA)
- Uppsala University (Sweden)
- University of Bradford (UK)
- International Christian University (Japan)
- University of Queensland (Australia)
- Makerere University (Uganda) — professional development certificate
- University of Peace (Costa Rica) — professional development certificate
Two types of awards:
1. **Master's Degree Fellowship** — 15–24 months; covers full tuition, fees, living expenses, and travel
2. **Professional Development Certificate** — 3 months; for experienced peace workers (non-degree)
Rotary Peace Fellows become part of a global network of 1,600+ alumni working for peace in 100+ countries.
Eligibility Requirements
- Citizen of any country (Rotary members, their spouses, and lineal descendants are not eligible)
- At least 3 years of relevant work/volunteer experience in peace or development fields (Master's track)
- Proficiency in English; some centers require additional language proficiency
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Strong commitment to peace, cross-cultural understanding, and conflict resolution
- Must be able to attend the full fellowship period
- No current Rotary membership
