The Chinese Government Scholarship Program is a full scholarship established by the Chinese Ministry of Education (MOE) to facilitate international exchanges in higher education and to develop mutual understanding between China and other countries.
For 2026, the CSC offers thousands of scholarships to outstanding international students and scholars to study or conduct research in Chinese universities.
Scholarship programs include:
- Type A (4+1): Preparatory language training + undergraduate/graduate
- Graduate Study: Master's and PhD programs directly in English or Chinese
- Senior Scholar: For scholars and university teachers conducting research in China
Benefits include:
- Full tuition waiver
- Free on-campus accommodation or monthly housing allowance (CNY 700–2,500)
- Monthly living allowance (CNY 2,500–3,500)
- Comprehensive medical insurance
- One-time relocation allowance
Eligibility Requirements
- Non-Chinese citizen with valid passport
- In good health (medical certificate required)
- Under 25 (undergraduate), under 35 (Master's), under 40 (PhD), under 50 (senior scholar)
- Minimum GPA equivalent to B or above in previous studies
- For Chinese-taught programs: Chinese proficiency or willing to take language training
- For English-taught programs: English proficiency (IELTS/TOEFL or university waiver)
- Apply through Chinese embassy in home country, or through university track (Type B)
